Question: My mother is 74 years old. She was diagnosed with cycstocele and they said there was no chance for her to recover. I was wondering if surgery would help to eliminate her pain and if surgery would be a major procedure for her? (S.L) Answer: It is difficult to comment without proper examination and evaluation. Overall I would not evaluate the situation as” no chance to recover”. In general cycstocelegeneral cycstocele repairs are minimally invasive procedures that could be done as an outpatient and would take care of herniation or down fall of the bladder. Often times there maybe other issues related to the problem that may need to be attended to. Most important factor in this scenario in my opinion is to make sure that one completely understands the relationship between the described pain and the cycstocele. It is not that uncommon for pain to exist for other reasons and as a matter of fact a pure cycstocele and prolapsed bladderprolapsed bladder is not all that painful. It usually presents itself with other symptoms and signs. * * * Aram Bonni, MD is Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. "Due to unfortunate experiences in my past and due to the treatment I received from other health care professionals in the past; I was amazed by the Staff that worked with Dr. Bonni and by Dr. Bonni himself. I had not seen a doctor since 2005 unless it was an emergency, so I was very nervous and defensive about seeing Dr. Bonni. Once I explained my issues to the nurse who seemed to notice my discomfort she made it a point to stay with me through out the entire procedure with out making me feel like a needy patient. Dr. Bonni also came back to speak with me before the procedure had been conducted and made me feel much better about what was happening. I was treated with more kindness and respect than I have ever experienced in my life by anyone in the health care profession.
After my procedure was done I went home with instructions from Dr. Bonni that I misunderstood. When I called Dr. Bonni though I could hear his concern over what I had done he did not make me feel stupid or like I done something wrong, he helped me rectify the problem that resulted in my misunderstanding. Sometimes it takes a little longer than it should to get a call back from his staff but if I call Dr. Bonni he rectifies it immediately and the staff has never taken that out on me. I do not have to call Dr. Bonni often it has only happened once in the 3months I have been in Dr. Bonni's care. Bottom line I tend to be a very difficult person to please as well as a needy patient and I can say that Dr. Bonni and his staff have never made me feel bad about it and as long as they will have me I will return." http://ow.ly/QblfP -- "A person whose mind is quiet and satisfied in God is in the pathway to health." ~ Ellen G. Question: Are there any new advancement’s in women’s health care as it relates to urinary incontinence? At what point do you recommend women to treat urinary incontinence? Is it true if I were to wait too long symptoms could create problems in other areas? (KL) Answer: This past decade has seen the most advances in the field of female urology and pelvic surgery. There are many new outpatient and office procedures available now. These new techniques and technologies help treat different types of urinary incontinence. The most important part of this process is the proper diagnosis of the type of the urinary incontinence and the associated other pelvic organ problems. Urinary incontinence in combination with pelvic organ prolapse if untreated could cause multiple medical issues. Although most if not all of these issues are not life threatening, but they do affect the quality of life significantly. Invention of new devices and methods of their placement has made it easy to treat urinary incontinence. For instance there is now a type of procedure for stress urinary incontinence that could be used even as an office procedure. New medications and improved technology in drug delivery systems have also helped treating certain types of urinary incontinence. One drop of accidental loss of urine is one too many for today’s active woman. Every woman deserves to have a proper diagnosis and to know of her choices in treatment of this condition. * * * Aram Bonni, MD is Board certified by the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Getting up early, making food, cleaning the house, getting children ready for school, going to the office, etc., are some of the daily tasks that most women have every morning. Besides managing their homes, they manage their children and spouse as well as the office. This gives us an idea of how important it is for women to remain healthy all times. Ironically, it is often women themselves who ignore their health for various reasons. Women's health is often misunderstood for the dieting and weight loss programs that help them maintain the body as well as the beauty tips for glowing skin and hair. A healthy body actually means a body supplied with the essential nutrients and is immune to disease-causing germs. Proper diet and loss of weight are definitely part of all this, however, they are not the most crucial factors that define women's health. The lifestyle of today often forces women to eat whatever that they get from restaurants and fast food places, especially if they are working. Needless to say, this is a highly unhealthy practice that affects their health. So what are some of the factors that help women in protecting and maintaining their health? Here are a few of them: • Make sure that the food you eat has all the essential proteins, vitamins, minerals and fats. Sometimes, women try to avoid carbohydrates and fats for weight loss. However, keeping them away completely is also not a good idea. Carbohydrates and fats in adequate amounts are necessary for women for total health protection. • Working out daily can do wonders for the body, keeping it fit and healthy all the time. Even slight exercises like walking can be really helpful. Yoga is a similar habit that can keep your physical and mental well being intact • Avoid medicines that offer false promises like reduction of weight or healthier skin. It is your lifestyle and eating habits that decide your weight as well as skin. Hence, it would be much better if you avoid medicines for any reason. As they say, prevention is always better than cure. • Get a periodical check up as much as possible. The amount of effort you put in everyday could take a toll on you in the long run. It is always better to consult a doctor occasionally to make sure that you remain healthy and free of any health issues. • Keep your mind peaceful and remain happy always. Women's health is related closely to their mental condition. If the mind is upset it could affect the body too. Try to avoid tensions and worries and stay happy always. healthstore.uk.com trading as Country Living Limited, is an independent family run business in Poynton, Nr. Stockport, Cheshire.
